Tim Garvin – Blue Bus Studio

Tim Garvin is an MFA-trained artist with over 35 years experience in ceramics. He leads a group of jewelry artisans in a woodland studio just outside Durham, North Carolina.

He creates the jewelry using numerous ceramic and metal techniques, among which are slip trailing and brushing, stenciling, and etching. The extreme detail and intense color in his porcelain work results from the use of over 500 different colors of clay in an ancient technique known as millefiori. He then uses sterling silver and pearl for structure and ornament in these remarkable pieces.
